Snap Review: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover (Audio Book)

Title: Ugly Love

My rating: 5/5

Synopsis:

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her. They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly

Snap Review: Everything that Remains by Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus

Title: Everything that Remains

My rating: 5/5

Synopsis:

What if everything you ever wanted isn’t what you actually want? Twenty-something, suit-clad, and upwardly mobile, Joshua Fields Millburn thought he had everything anyone could ever want. Until he didn’t anymore. Blindsided by the loss of his mother and his marriage in the same month, Millburn started questioning every aspect of the life he had built for himself. Then, he accidentally discovered a lifestyle known as minimalism…and everything started to change.
That was four years ago. Since, Millburn, now 32, has embraced simplicity. In the pursuit of looking for something more substantial than compulsory consumption and the broken American Dream, he jettisoned most of his material possessions, paid off loads of crippling debt, and walked away from his six-figure career. So, when everything was gone, what was left?
Not a how-to book but a why-to book, Everything That Remains is the touching, surprising story of what happened when one young man decided to let go of everything and begin living more deliberately. Heartrending, uplifting, and deeply personal, this engrossing memoir is peppered with insightful (and often hilarious) interruptions by Ryan Nicodemus, Millburn’s best friend of twenty years.

Bout of Books 19

Bout of Books

I’m super excited to be participating in this readathon this year! I’ve been in a slump since I got back from vacation – perhaps because I’m back to ‘real life’ and catching up on everything. No worries, I’m determined to make the most out of the Bout of Books reading challenge this week and knock out books that have been on my TBR for far too long!

I’m getting ahead of myself, let me have the organizers explain what’s about to go down:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 8th and runs through Sunday, May 14th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 19 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

Now that we are on the same page, are you ready to sign-up? Follow these steps to join in on the fun!

  1. Post on your site, Twitter, Google+, Goodreads, YouTube, Instagram or Facebook account and declare your intentions to join. It’s EASY. They ask you share info to help spread the word. Please link back to @boutofbooks!
  2. Add the direct link to your sign up post to the linky in the original post. You have until Tuesday, May 9th at 11:59pm CST to sign up. (If the linky is closed, you’re too late.)
  3.  Beginning May 8th, READ!

I think this calls for a sick day, cough, cough 🙂

Happy Reading!
